Job DescriptionMainframe System Programmer
100% Remote
Insurance or Healthcare Domain Experience
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and maintain the performance and reliability of our mainframe environment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to hardware, software, and network infrastructure.
- Checking the performance of system administration, network management, and storage management.
- Participate in the design and implementation of new mainframe systems and infrastructure.
Skills:
- 5+ years of experience working with mainframe hardware and software infrastructure.
- Proficient in IBM z/OS operating system, JES2, TSO/ISPF, and JCL
- Familiarity with mainframe storage subsystems
- Familiarity with mainframe network infrastructure, including TCP/IP and VTAM
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- BS or MS in Information Technology, or a related field is a PLUS.
- Seasoned professional, with a variety of technical skills developed.
- Strong knowledge and skill in multiple technologies related to mainframe.
- Focus on low to moderate complexity projects.
- Assists more senior team members on high complexity projects.
- Collaborates with team members to complete hardware and software system upgrades.
- Implements changes in configuration, at the direction of more senior Engineers/Architects.
- Automate operations where possible.
- Conducts capacity planning.
- Runs installation jobs and scripts.
- Performs installation-specific customization tasks.
- Completes integration-testing the new products with existing applications and user procedures.
- Performing system-wide performance tuning to meet required levels of service.
