Job Description
Summary:
Perform hydraulic preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance tasks on assembly line equipment and tooling as lead technician.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide status of work progress to supervisors, causes of delays and overall work operations and problems.
  • Advises and provides guidance to team members on policies and procedures, written instructions, and other directives.
  • Ensures safety and housekeeping rules are followed.
  • Checks work in progress of other Production Machinery Mechanics, when finished and for compliance with supervisor’s instructions on work sequence, procedures and methods.
  • Diagnose modifications through a variety of inspection techniques using mechanical checks.
  • Repair machinery/equipment by replacing parts from stock, if available.
  • Evaluates the progress of workers in application of work methods.
  • Demonstrates machine operations such as refinishing worn or damaged parts and components.
  • Repairs pumps, valves, and cylinders as related to our business, per customer request.
  • Tests and inspects hydraulic pumps, valves and cylinders, etc.
  • Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment. Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine.
  • Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.
  • Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
  • Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathe, grinder, drill, and milling machine to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs and fixtures, and tools.
  • Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
  • Understands production processes and operation of machinery for troubleshooting purposes.
  • Completes CMMS entries for work orders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Work Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED. Associate's or technical degree preferred.
  • Vocational school preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of related work experience as an industrial equipment Maintenance Technician.

  • Performs routine maintenance on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
  • Reads and understands blueprints, schematics, and/or measuring devices.
  • Behaves consistently and predictably; is reliable, responsible and dependable in fulfilling obligations and diligently follows through on commitments and consistently meets deadlines.
  • Achieves thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing a task through concern for all the areas involved.
  • Clear and effective communication skills in both written and spoken forms.
  • Understands how to use the computers, including such tasks as turning the computer on and off, locating and opening files, navigate to websites, perform searches, and download files.
  • Knowledge of computer applications including email, databases, word-processing program and spreadsheets (such as Microsoft Office).
  • Respond and follow up to a customer’s inquiry or problem in a timely and effective manner.
  • Identifies problems and review relevant information to develop options, then implement the solutions.
  • Works effectively with different levels of management, team members and customers.

Work Conditions:
Environment Type:
  • Indoors. Production and office environment. Temperature controlled, unless products and/or equipment is located outdoors.

Work Hours:
  • Standard work schedule, overtime may be necessary for meeting deadlines, required travel, and emergent conditions.
  • Able to work scheduled “off shifts”. 2nd, 3rd or split shift if required.
Travel Requirements:
  • Remote - perform job responsibilities from customer work sites.
  • This position may involve travel up to 10% of the time.

Physical Demands:

  • Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms.
  • Medium work that includes moving objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
