Supervisor: Executive Director/ Clinical Supervisor/ Program Coordinator Classification: Exempt / Clinical Staff

POSITION DESCRIPTION: School Site Therapists The therapists will work directly with the Executive Director, their Clinical Director and the School-Based Program Coordinator. They will provide clinical evaluations, assessments, treatment, and consultation as well as educational services when necessary. As a member of a clinical team, he/she will work in tandem with school personnel when appropriate to improve the behavioral and emotional well-being of the students they are serving. Therapists will provide services in schools, and rural communities, and in any other organizational environment of the Coachella Valley Unified School District system. They may design and deliver educational programs for community constituencies as well.

Minimum Job Qualifications: Personnel must have a Master’s or higher level of education, and be registered as an Associate or licensed with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences as a Marriage and Family Therapist, Professional Clinical Counselor, or Clinical Social Worker. Master’s level professional Practicum Student (i.e. Trainees as an MFT, PCC, or CSW) are under the supervision of an LCSW. The Latino Commission Counseling Center retains the discretion to add or to change duties of the position at any time.

Job Duties and Requirements:

• Provide social and emotional support to students both individually and in groups. • Provide classroom-based counseling and make clinical observations of students in the classroom.

• Provide therapeutic treatment and support for individuals and groups (i.e. students and their families.)

• Maintain clinical files for each student which includes but not limited to attendance records for individual and group sessions as well as session notes, child abuse reports, records of significant contacts etc.

• Attend meetings pertaining to student needs (i.e. SST, SART, IEP, reintegration meetings for suspensions, expulsions, 5150’s etc.)

• Consult with other staff as needed regarding clinical issues affecting the students being served.

• Attend and participate in monthly clinical staff meetings or as scheduled.

• Assist in the development and implementation of the campus psychosocial curriculum and parent training projects.

• Develop individual treatment goals and plans.

• Be able to work within a multidisciplinary team.

• Apply therapeutic theory, techniques and practice specific to the targeted population.

• Be culturally informed and sensitive to the population they are serving.

• Be flexible in order to adapt to the frequently changing demands of a school environment.

• Follow all classroom/school policies and procedures thereby setting an example to students.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENT Any offer of employment is contingent upon taking and passing a health screening /TB test (within 7 days or provide documentation of last test performed within 6 months). The examination assesses a candidate’s ability to meet the physical demands of the position with or without accommodation in accordance with applicable statues for applicants with disabilities. You must have a current C.P.R. and First Aid Certification or schedule to take certification within the first 30-days from date of hire. Any offer of employment is also continent upon taking and successfully passing a criminal background investigation (fingerprinting/live scan); the guidelines set forth by the Department of Justice in accordance with being connected to an agency whose clients are children. Any offer of employment is also contingent upon having a clean DMV record and providing said record and receiving good and valid reports on reference checks. Applicants, who refuse to submit to testing or who do not pass all tests or provide required documents, will not be hired or retained in employment.
