Job Title: Communication Specialist

Tenure – Full Time, Permanent

Location: Ottawa, Canada

Pay Rate - $70k - $90k/annually (+other benefits)

Summary:

As a Communication Specialist, you will be responsible for all public communications, especially media interactions, and communications with the broader public. This involves establishing and nurturing relationships with stakeholders such as partners, building occupants, media, community, and public interest groups.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the project spokesperson, responding to information requests from the media or stakeholders.
  • Develop and update communication strategies and plans to uphold positive public and internal stakeholder perspectives on the project and its objectives.
  • Coordinate and participate in the production of promotional and support materials, along with other communication tools, adhering to production timelines.
  • Plan and organize events such as press conferences, public consultations, and townhall meetings.
  • Create presentations and materials tailored for various stakeholders.
  • Craft press releases and other media communications in both official languages.
  • Liaise with and support government representatives on technical aspects of the project and other communication initiatives.
  • Oversee the management of project-specific websites.

Requirements:

  • 5 years of related experience in Sustainability and Energy.
  • Good understanding of Canadian Government Energy and Sustainability objectives.
  • Bilingualism is required (English and French, written and spoken).
  • Experience in handling press conferences, liaising with the media, and organizing public consultations.
  • Understanding and experience working with social media.
