Job Description
We are seeking a Baker/Pastry Chef to join our team! You will thrive in a fast-paced environment and dedicate time to expanding our clientele base to establish the restaurant's brand and reputation.
Responsibilities
- Open the bakery early in the morning
- Weigh flour and other ingredients to prepare dough
- Bake different bread types, such as loaves, hoagie rolls, and biscuits
- Adjust oven temperatures to ensure proper baking
- Mix various ingredients to create fillings for cakes and pies (e.g. chocolate ganache, caramel sauce and fruits)
- Bake and frost cupcakes
- Prepare different types of pastries, including, donuts, cookies, brownies, cinnamon rolls, and seasonal items, such as King Cakes
- Prepare custom-made pastries based on customers’ preferences
- Recommend recipes to renew our menu and attract more customers (e.g. vegan desserts)
- Track food supplies and place orders, as needed
- Wash dishes, take out trash, maintain a clean work station
Skills
- Experience as a Baker, Pastry Chef or similar role
- Familiarity with all professional kitchen equipment, including mixers and food processors
- Understanding of food safety practices
- Experience with cake decoration techniques
- Excellent time-management skills
- Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced environment
- Team spirit, with a customer-focused attitude
- Flexibility to work in early morning shifts
- Certification from a culinary school is a plus
- ServSafe is a plus
Qualified candidates must be able to stand at your work space and perform regular duties for shifts up to 6 hours, with one 20-minute break. They will be regularly required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and lift up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision and the ability to adjust focus. Candidates must be available to work nights and weekends, as needed.
