TECHNICAL/ROBOTICS INSTRUCTOR (ONSITE)
SUMMARY
Instruct, maintain course curricula, databases, and reports pertaining to established training classes and perform research and development as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Teach courses weekly or as assigned.
Attain proficiency and teach core programming path courses for the current controller and the previous generation controller. Programming: Operator's, Basic, Accelerated, Advanced, Ladder, Transition, etc., for the current production controller and previous generation controller
Complete proficiency in a second path of instruction assigned by the manager/supervisor. The currently structured paths and associated courses are as follows:
Maintenance: Maintenance courses for the current production controller and the previous generation controller (current-1). Each includes preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair/replacement, etc.
Arc Welding: Basic w/Arc, Advanced Arc, ComArc Seam Tracking and Seam Finding, and ArcWorld 6200 DR2C for the current production controller and the previous generation controller (current-1).
PC Based: PC based software/controllers, as developed. Also Computer Based Training and Web Based Training Development.
Learn and teach controller software options for the courses included in his/her designated paths.
Learn the software used in the development of course outlines, handouts, laboratory manuals, skills and knowledge objectives. Perform modification of the identified documentation as assigned by the manager/supervisor.
Assist in the maintenance of records pertaining to student/ instructor testing, student enrollment, and IACET certification procedures, plus any other documentation requirements that may be reasonably required.
Assist in the development and implementation of audio-visual aids.
Provide technical support for programming and maintenance issues as necessary for internal and external customers.
Travel to customer sites and/or remote facilities for periods of approximately one week for training presentations and site evaluations as required. May include Sunday through Saturday travel.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor of Arts degree and three to five years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have previous experience developing technical documents, manuals, and/or other instructional material. Must have previous training/teaching experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Must have technical writing skills as applicable to the robotics and automated systems technologies.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must possess some experience in a formal programming language or robot-specific language. Hands-on skills in robot mechanical, electrical and systems maintenance and troubleshooting a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to risk of electrical shock. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
