BWXT is seeking an IT Systems Administrator for its Lynchburg, VA location! The IT Systems Administrator will design, implement, and troubleshoot information systems and technology solutions in support of various BWXT business units. Support datacenter operations such as server, network, and storage hardware and the various associated management platforms. Troubleshoot complex problems and work under stressful conditions. Work collaboratively with customers and business users for daily support and complete complex projects. As necessary, this position requires availability after working hours to handle critical issues. Remain current with new technology developments and trends and continue to grow skills to leverage these new advances. Job Description/Duties: Technical expert for IT Operations including virtualization, storage, Windows operating systems, Active Directory, Group Policy, and other IT Operations application administration. Implements new technology to support IT or business improvements. Support Airgapped network with increased security requirements such as DISA STIGs. Implements, documents & supports the Data Center operations daily. Designs, maintains, and monitors datacenter backups for all servers and SANs. Administers and supports all critical production applications. Supports Active Directory/DNS/Group Policy/Exchange/IP Monitoring & terminal server system/Windows Firewall. Implements and manages SANs and vSAN. Set up, administer, and support various virtualization platforms such as VMWare, Microsoft, Linux. Participate in implementing system security patches and software/firmware/system upgrades to maintain security compliance. Assist desktop engineers with advanced troubleshooting on occasion. Participate in continuous process improvement activities. Review, update, implement and test Disaster Recovery plan. Minimum Job Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field. A minimum of ten (10) years of experience. Must possess in-depth knowledge of Active Directory, vmWare vSphere, SRM, Group Policy, DISA STIG controls, Windows Server Operating Systems, Exchange, Skype for Business/Teams, Networking, DFS, Clustering. Ability to install and troubleshoot physical hardware. Possess in-depth experience with various physical servers and virtual backup and recovery solutions. Experience with storage area networks, vSAN, and administration and support of Data Center Infrastructure Operations. Some experience with Ivanti/LANDesk, Splunk, Netwrix, What’s Up Gold, Kemp, Commvault, Cohesity, LANSweeper, Open Manage. Ability to cross train team members. Demonstrable experience with solving practical problems and carrying out responsibilities under general supervision. Must be able to organize workload for effective implementation, have a strong customer and results orientation with the ability to function as an effective team member. Must be able to adapt as the external environment and organization evolves. Have a positive attitude and strong work ethic. Must be a U.S. citizen only. No dual citizenship. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) clearance. Active security clearance is preferred.
