Scientist 1

Responsibilities

  • Design, perform, and analyze clinical assay development experiments related to 14 products, leveraging large datasets including both clinical and laboratory data.
  • Serve as the expert scientist who can turn a hunch or intuition-your own or a colleague's-into a rigorous quantitative analysis.
  • Work closely with different groups across the organization and across different products (e.g., Automation, Computational Biology, Software, Manufacturing, Clinical Operations)
  • Communicate scientifically complex topics to diverse stakeholders across the company and externally through academic and clinical conferences.
  • Influence the medical guidelines that impact the lives of millions of people.
  • Thrive on handling diverse projects with a range of time-scales.

Qualifications

  • PhD (or equivalent experience) in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Chemistry, or related discipline.
  • Deep understanding of nucleic acids-related chemistry and techniques (DNA and RNA).
  • Well versed in computational analyses with large datasets and making quantitative arguments from first principles.
  • Computational skills, preferably with fluency in Python or another scripting language.
  • Track record of peer-reviewed publications; we're especially interested in those where you played a driving role.
  • Excellent communication via speech, text, and graphics.
  • Strategic thinker and implementer.
  • A sense of humility and an eagerness to contribute to a supportive, interdisciplinary team.

Physical & Lifting Requirements

  • Lifting Requirements - medium work or exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pound of force frequently, and 10 pounds of force consistently.
  • Physical Requirements - stationary positioning, moving, operating, ascending/descending, communicating, observing, reaching and repetitive motion.
  • Use of equipment and tools necessary to perform essential job functions.
  • Hazards and Atmospheric Conditions - exposure to fumes, dust, extreme temperatures, wet and/or humid, noise, vibration, mists or gases, mechanical hazards, chemical hazards, electrical hazards and radiant energy hazards. OSHA Category I - duties performed routinely requires exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue.
