Alliance Technical Group is hiring for our commercial environmental laboratory in the Akron, OH area. Employees will have the opportunity to learn a variety of analytical methods and preparation techniques, some of which are very rare in the environmental industry. Alliance currently seeks to fill two position types: Laboratory Analyst and Laboratory Prep Technician. Role assignment is dependent on previous chemistry and laboratory experience.

Pay Range:

Starting at $17+/hour, depending on experience.

Laboratory Analyst Essential Functions:

  • Prepare solutions, standards, and reagents to conduct analysis.
  • Analyze samples for inorganic or organic compounds using various laboratory techniques including chromatography, spectroscopy, and spectrophotometry.
  • Perform routine laboratory testing tasks using standard laboratory equipment such as balances, pipettes, pH meters, UV/Visible spectrophotometer, Total Organic Carbon analyzer, etc.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records, including logbooks.
  • Compile and analyze data to determine the operating efficiency of the instruments / equipment and to diagnose and repair any malfunctions.
  • Utilize good laboratory practices and follow Alliance's Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Confer with management to conduct analyses of new methods.
  • Enter or upload results into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
  • Document and initiate any revisions to SOPs that are needed and submit to management.

Laboratory Prep Technician Essential Functions:

  • Prepare solutions, standards, and reagents to conduct analysis.
  • Perform routine laboratory tasks, using standard laboratory equipment, such as balances, pipettes, and pH meters.
  • Extract and/or digest samples according to Alliance SOPs.
  • Utilize good laboratory practice.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records, including logbooks.

Qualifications:

  • HS Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Associate degree or higher in a physical science preferred.
  • General familiarity with laboratory safety, previous laboratory experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Intermediate skill level in Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, both with internal customers and external vendors.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read, count, and write to accurately complete all documentation.
  • Professional behavior and appearance.
  • Ability to be organized and attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow written or verbal instructions.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task, follow up on pending issues, meet deadlines and work independently
  • General knowledge of chemistry and lab analysis operations.
