HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE TO OUR TEAM (Overview & Key Responsibilities):

The Blending Manager directs and coordinates day-to-day blending activities. This person will plan, organize, and carry out objectives related to production efficiency, utilization, productivity, and quality. This position will ensure that customer needs are met through appropriate day-to-day allocation of people, equipment, and assets in the blending related operations of the plant. Works with the management team, customers, and Lube-Tech personnel to prioritize tasks and assign resources cost effectively to meet the customers' needs. This position primarily works 1st shift in the Golden Valley warehouse as assigned. However, this person needs to have flexibility in their hours to work either shift, weekends, or as business dictates.

  • Function within the guidelines of the Lube-Tech's Purpose, Promises and Values.
  • Responsible for toll blending operation, customer reconciliation, complaint resolution, and monthly close of related financial reporting systems of customers and Lube Tech.
  • Accountable for achieving established key performance indicators striving for operational excellence with 1st pass blend performance, accelerate to zero safety and quality programs, OEE of drum and pail lines, TIR, EHSS compliance, 5S, elimination of demurrage charges, and continual improvement initiatives. Present these measurements to management on a predetermined basis.
  • Follows established standards; hires, deals with performance issues, conducts performance reviews and terminations when warranted and with support.
  • Oversee activities in the blending area to meet production goals, safety, quality, and cost objectives.
  • Plan and coordinate the flow of materials through the blending area, from raw materials to finished products.
  • Optimize blending operations to ensure a supply of material for the production lines on a daily basis eliminating downtime associated with lack of blended material.
  • Develop and implement operating procedures and oversee the maintenance of assets that are critical to blending.
  • Maintain plant cleanliness such that customer tours can be a positive marketing experience.
  • Plan and administer policies and procedures.
  • Provide recommendations on blending maintenance, quality and/or plant improvements.
  • Ensure employees follow safety rules and safe practices.
  • Make budgetary recommendations on capital expenditures and direct/indirect labor.
  • Review and analyze production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine the root cause for quality concerns using analytical tools addressing nonconformity with product specifications and operating or production problems in the blending department.
  • Become proficient in the use of Lube-Tech's manufacturing & inventory control system (JDE).
  • Analyze production specifications and plant capacity data and perform mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, tools, and manpower requirements.
  • Assist in developing training procedures to move the company to be best in class.
  • Provide an emphasis on safety to ensure compliance with all pertinent government regulations and provide a safe environment for employees.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.
  • Minimal travel required for this position.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (Minimum Qualifications):

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience and/or Training:

  • Minimum of 4 years manufacturing related to packaging business, blending operations, or production line operation.
  • Minimum of 2 years' supervisory experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Understanding of KPIs and manufacturing processes.
  • Strong understanding of Quality, Safety Awareness and Lean Principles.
  • Basic mathematical abilities.
  • Strong communication & Organizational skills.
  • Ability to read and understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Basic Microsoft Office proficiency.
  • Inventory Management System (JDE).
  • Understand laptops and projectors for training purpose.
