Position Summary Details

The primary responsibility of the HVAC Technician is to install, repair and maintain a variety of equipment including refrigeration, air conditioning, electric motors, heating units, heat pumps, compressors, boilers, exhaust fans, economizers, and humidifiers. Inspects HVAC systems and their components. Calibrates temperature control related sensors, receivers, and transmitters. Monitors, troubleshoots, and maintains control systems, including pneumatic, DDS / hybrid systems. Effectively monitors and adjusts interior environments via a Building Automation System. Maintains relevant logs and documentation. Monitors the performance of HVAC subcontractors, including conformance to code. Responds to emergency situations during and after hours.

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm

Pay: $35.00-$40.00/hr

401(k) – You become eligible to make personal contributions beginning the first of the month following 30 days of employment. Essential Functions
  • Apply knowledge and experience in the day-to-day operations and maintenance of all related Campus equipment.
  • Learn the mechanical systems and operating procedures for the campus and physical plant to include plant equipment and related machinery electricity, controls systems, and basic mechanical systems. Also includes air compressors, chillers, boilers, AHU's, oil water separators, propane station, paint booths, and frequency drives. - know that equipment to learn (small commercial unit/split systems).
  • Make designated operators’ rounds, document equipment-operating conditions and identify and report non-standard conditions.
  • Perform advanced preventative maintenance functions on all equipment and make a positive impact in completing root cause analysis on troubled equipment, correctly troubleshoot problems and make appropriate repairs.
  • Show proficiency with the procedures/processes required to effectively test and analyze systems
  •  that utilize water treatment chemicals

Minimum Education and/or Experience Requirements: 

  • Must have Journeyman Certification
  • Must have 3-5 years of HVAC experience in a commercial environment.
  • Electrical, HVAC, or other plant mechanical licenses.
  • EPA Universal Certification
  • Knowledge of standard practices of the HVAC trade. 
  • Knowledge of applicable building codes, ordinances, and regulations. Including health and safety regulations.
  • Must be able to withstand heights, ascend or descend ladders and stairs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills are required.
  • Must be able to perform all physical aspects of the above job duties.
