Primary Location: West Virginia (Beckley, Buckhannon, Charleston, Mineral
Wells, Ridgeley/Short Gap, Wheeling)

Job Summary:
The Directional Bore Operator will be responsible for operating the directional drill. They will set-up and complete drilling of variable sized underground holes and pulling back required conduit. They will work with an Outside Plant Project Manager and Locators to complete job requirements from start to finish on outside plant projects including digging boring pit, directional boring, pulling back of conduit, splicing of conduit sections, pulling giber through conduit, setting hand holes, backfilling, and seeding, core drilling and pot holing.

Job Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):
  • Set-up of equipment including the drill, water tanks and grounding the machine.
  • Operate drilling equipment and various other construction equipment to include, but not be
  • Confirms with locator or lead the bore path to drill.
  • Drilling of predetermined path to exit point.
  • Continue communication with locator to confirm he location of the drill head.
  • Assist in potholing and remediation.
  • Assist with setting hand holes and completing tie ins.
  • Assist with the install of proper pulling gear and hook up product.
  • Conduct post-job quality checks.
  • All responsibilities will be performed in standard and high-risk areas.
  • If appropriately licensed and authorized, drive or operate construction equipment used on the jobsite to complete daily work assignments.
  • Maintain, clean, and inspect company vehicles and equipment assigned for use to ensure they are preforming at optimum safety.
  • Perform required pre- and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment and complete required paperwork
  • Complies with safety procedures while driving and at job site.
  • Perform other general duties, as directed.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
General
  • Ability to comply with the “Operator’s Manual” for equipment and vehicles used.
  • Ability to understand and follow all quality/safety policies and procedures.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL Class A) with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Self-motivated, safety, quality and production minded.
  • Ability wot work and communicate as part of a team with groundman, and other craft and labor workers.
  • Ability to manage time effectively.
  • Ability to lift at minimum 50 lbs.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions – heat, cold snow, ice, rain, etc.
  • Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs, moving your whole body, reaching, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
  • Ability to work long hours, if needed.
  • Ability to travel for remote business requirements within Ohio, West Virginia, Virginia, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, and Indiana.
  • Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Individuals will be required to pass a preemployment drug test and background screening.

Technical
  • At least 1 year of directional drilling experience.
    • Ability to drill predetermined path to exit point,
    • Ability to Pothole
    • Ability to assist with hand holes
    • Ability to conduct post-job quality checks.
  • Experience completing tie-ins.
  • Experience pulling gear and hooking up product.
  • Strong knowledge of underground utilities.
  • Knowledge of telecommunications industry and construction practices.

Desired Skills & Qualifications:
  • OSHA 10 certification
  • OSHA 30 certification
