Day in the Life of a BHS Clinical Co-Responder:
The Behavioral Health Clinical Co-Responder partners with Laramie County Sheriff’s Department and the City of Cheyenne Police department to provide timely and immediate mental health services. This position rides with officers in organized shifts responding to mental health and substance abuse calls for service. This is a grant funded position that will strengthen collaboration with community resources as well as promote an increase in individual follow up through referrals.

Here’s what you will be doing:
• Investigates, assesses and plans interventions to help patients cope with social, emotional, economic and environmental problems.
• Operates as an independently licensed behavioral health clinician co-responder with local area first response agencies.
• Works a varied schedule of full time, evenings/weekends and on call.
• Interviews and assesses patients and/or patient's family, caregivers, and /or legal representatives.
• Determines prioritizes and provides and/or arranges for needed internal and external services/interventions.
• Participates in case reviews to evaluate case management and progress.
• Consults with healthcare team members to promote, monitor and evaluate compliance with patient's treatment plan.
• Responds in the field as a co-responder with local law enforcement to patients in active crisis.
• Identifies appropriate resources including transportation, housing, healthcare, and social/spiritual services, and provides referrals as part of the field response.

• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while taking appropriate actions

Here’s what you will need:
• Master’s degree or higher in Social Service or Behavioral Health related field
• Wyoming Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Marriage and Family Counselor (LMFT)
• Two (2) or more years of clinical experience including acute mental illness

Nice to have:
• Experience and partnerships with community resources
