Salary:

Colorado International Language Academy (CILA) is an international charter school with language immersion (50% in 1st- 5th grades) in three world languages. Our students learn math and language literacy, as well as cultural aspects in their chosen target language. Children can study Mandarin Chinese, German, or Spanish.

Our students develop a GLOBAL perspective by learning a second language; by exploring diverse cultures to cultivate understanding and respect; and by developing the skills to live and work with others internationally all essential elements for navigating life in the 21st century.

With the world as the context for education, students need to find their place, their voice, and their dream. Colorado International Language Academy provides the support and the challenge to motivate students to excel. Their success depends upon their own initiative and the support of peers, teachers, parents, and the wider community.

For the 2023/24 school year, we are looking for Elementary English Teacher.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan and instruct English classes for Elementary English Teacher.
  • Help students read fluently, comprehend what they are reading, spelling, grammar, vocabulary, and writing.
  • Plan developmentally appropriate lessons based on different genres.
  • Use data analysis to monitor student achievement.
  • Collaborate with other teachers including immersion teachers to insure instruction is always meeting the needs of all learners.
  • Demonstrate sound professional teaching and classroom management skills to facilitate learning.
  • Use oral and written language skills accurately and effectively.
  • Maintain accurate records of student academic and behavioral progress, attendance, test scores and personal information.
  • Carry out formal and informal assessments of student achievement.
  • Integrate the assessments to design appropriate lesson planning and effective teaching strategies to accommodate diverse student needs and learning styles.
  • Support the mission and curriculum of the school.
  • Other duties as assigned by Principal.

Minimum Required Experience:

  • Must possess a Bachelor's Degree or higher.
  • Must have passed the PLACE or PRAXIS Exam in Elementary Education.
  • Background, training endorsement and/or certification in English and/or Early Childhood Literacy is preferred.

Skills, Knowledge, Equipment and Other:

  • Oral communication, interpersonal, English language, English writing, math (appropriate to grade assigned), basic behavior management and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work with students with diverse backgrounds and abilities.
  • Operating knowledge of personal computers and general office equipment may be required after hire.
  • English language skills required. Oral and written fluency in a second language may be preferred or required based on building assignment.

Physical Requirements:

Use fingers to grasp, move, or assemble very small objects. See differences between colors, shades, and brightness. Hold the arm and hand in one position or hold the hand steady while moving the arm. Use stomach and lower back muscles to support the body for long standing, stooping, kneeling and crouching periods without getting tired.

Required to escort the class throughout lunchtimes, to different classrooms, to recess, to supervise outdoor recess in varied weather conditions, to field trips, in addition to managing the activity level of the children.
