With a focus on guest services and operations, students will also have opportunities to learn from industry leaders in horse racing, hospitality, and major events. Successful candidates for this program must be driven, motivated self-starters, who are looking to jumpstart a career in sports and entertainment by learning the behind-the-scenes aspects of hosting a world-renowned event. Our student ambassadors must have dynamic personalities and enjoy smiling, meeting people, and making our guests happy. Ambassadors must also value time management, collaboration and possess a “get stuff done” attitude. Ideal candidates will embody our core values and exude a passion for excellence.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as an extension of our crowd management and guest services team at entry gates and throughout the property. Greet fans, answer questions, provide wayfinding, escort guests when needed, and assist in creating a positive overall racetrack experience
  • Ensure the facility is properly set for event days – i.e. checking queue lines, setting signage, placing tables and chairs, etc.
  • Communicate and collaborate with Partnership Activation, Events, Facilities, Sales, and other internal departments as required
  • Document event setups, activations, and operational elements for archival purposes
  • Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS

Student Ambassadors must be able to work a flexible schedule and be on-site when needed. This position will also require exposure to the elements and applicants must be able to sit, stand and walk for long periods.

This is a high-energy environment with multiple tasks evolving throughout the day. The activities associated with this position are ever-changing and a flexible demeanor is needed to ensure success.

This is a seasonal position that will take place April – May. Peak hours/days will be April 22 – May 4, 2024. Flexibility will be given around final exams and classes, but all ambassadors must be able to work May 2 – 4, 2024. Housing will not be provided during the program.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE

Ideal candidates will possess the following:

  • Completion, or actively pursuing a Bachelor's degree (B. A.) or better from a four-year college or university
  • Superb oral and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organization
  • Proficient learner with the ability to think quickly and adapt
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Competency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings
