The Senior Network Engineer works within a collaborative IT organization implementing, administering, and supporting virtual and physical servers and their associated systems and services, for both on-premises and cloud environments. The position contributes to area strategy and continuous improvement via research, performance analysis, automation, and process refinement. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Monitor network systems to ensure efficient operations
  • Creating firewalls and updating virus protection software and data security systems to keep data and communications protected
  • Work with other functional areas within IT to identify, implement, and support effective technology and security solutions
  • Research the latest information technology trends and recommend improvements/enhancements to management
  • Communicate with vendors and peers to keep abreast of emerging products, technologies, and services
  • Administer virtual and physical Windows servers ensuring efficient, effective, and secure operations (e.g., directory services, storage, file/print, IAM, web, and endpoint/client management) 

 

Qualifications:

  • 5 years of related industry experience in information technology field
  • In-depth understanding and practical knowledge of networking systems such as LAN, firewalls, and routers
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate networks, identify issues and provide solutions to ensure networks are operating efficiently
  • Understanding of TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS/DHCP and SMB protocols
  • Knowledge and adherence to relevant cybersecurity best practices
  • Experience with network security products and concepts, primarily with the Fortinet product suites
  • Strong technical background, analytical and problem-solving skills, and communication abilities
  • Experience with Windows server administration and troubleshooting
  • Experience with server technologies (Hyper V, Azure Hybrid, etc.)
  • Experience with enterprise grade server hardware, storage devices, and backup technologies
  • Experience developing and maintaining system integration and automation tools using shell scripts and other scripting languages
  • Familiarity with directory, authentication and file/print services, such as Active Directory, eDirectory, OpenLDAP, FreeRADIUS, OES, CUPS/iPrint, etc.
  • Project planning experience 
  • Experience with Windows endpoint administration
  • Bachelor's degree in IT/CIS or related field, or professional certification preferred
