Director, Data Center Operations

What you’ll do:

The Director of Data Center Operations holds a critical leadership position, being primarily responsible for the comprehensive oversight and management of the organization's data center infrastructure environment. Key responsibilities encompass providing strategic direction and hands-on supervision of Linux/Unix systems, data protection, replication technologies, storage solutions, VMware infrastructure, servers, and data center environmentals. This role involves leading a dynamic team of professionals dedicated to ensuring the reliability, security, and efficiency of data center operations. The Director collaborates with cross-functional teams to align with business objectives, implement best practices, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Their focus is on upholding optimal performance and resilience in Lifepoint's IT data center portfolio.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies for efficient operation and maintenance of:
    • Linux/Unix systems
    • Data protection tools (e.g., Commvault, Veeam)
    • Replication technologies (e.g., Zerto)
    • Storage solutions
    • VMware infrastructure
    • Servers
    • Data center environmentals
  • Lead and manage a team responsible for day-to-day operations and support of the data center environment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of various technologies within the data center ecosystem.
  • Oversee deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of all IT systems, including Linux/Unix, storage, VMware, and servers.
  • Establish and enforce policies and procedures for the security and integrity of data center operations, focusing on data protection and replication.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement and automation to enhance efficiency and reduce operational risks.
  • Provide guidance to facility (Hospital) data center technical leadership.
  • Coordinate with the AVP Infrastructure Services to plan and budget for the future integration of aligned locations and enable the integration and remediation of disaster recovery services as necessary.

What you’ll need:

EDUCATION: BS in computer science, MIS or equivalent experience required. Significant experience considered in lieu of education.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum 10 years of relevant and broad experience across multiple areas of infrastructure architecture, engineering and / or support; experience working in multi-facility healthcare information services department; minimum 5 years proven experience of progressive leadership.
