Description

The Commissary Lead is responsible for maintaining and overseeing the commissary contract. Directs and coordinates activities of commissary store such as replenishing stock. Oversees staffing needs, training, employee schedules and ensures safety.

Essential Duties:

  • Supervision of work force composed primarily of disabled persons
  • Assist in planning daily work schedules
  • Assist in developing standards or performance for employees
  • Assist in the responsibility for insuring that all daily and periodic shelf-stocking tasks are completed as scheduled, and according to specified quality standards and within budget limits
  • Monitors the use of supplies and equipment, request additional supplies as needed
  • Trains program participants/employees in orientation to the building, proper work techniques, and schedules, usage and conservation of supplies, operation of equipment and safety practices
  • In the absence of the Assistant Project Manager, communicates with the case manager in a timely manner regarding program participant's performance or behavior issues
  • In the absence of the Assistant Project Manager, participates in the daily communication with Commissary personnel to ascertain problems/concerns, reach decisions regarding appropriate solutions, maintains a high level of satisfaction in terms of quality service and effective communication at the facility
  • Assist in all jobs, during work hours, and on weekends as requested by the Assistant Project Manager
  • Perform any other duties as assigned

Physical Demands

  • The Commissary Lead is a physically demanding position.
  • While preforming the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to reach with hands and arms.
  • Required to use finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls.
  • Must spend the entire time at work standing, walking, lifting heavy objects, operating medium- weight cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, sweeping and mopping floors and moving desks and furniture.
  • A great deal of stretching and bending, often in awkward positions is required.
  • Use backpack vacuums when assigned.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 75 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Environmental Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.
  • The noise level in the environment can be loud.

Background Screening

  • Must submit to background check during length of employment as dictated by contract.
  • Must be able to pass criminal and drug screening processes to meet current contract eligibility requirements that apply.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain access to the military base.

2 years: Minimum of two (2) years of grocery store or commissary experience (required)
