Job Description

L3Harris is seeking an experienced RF engineer to support multiple programs in its Space and Airborne Systems division. The engineer will support sustaining, maintenance, and repair of large Phased Array Radar Systems, support Technical Subcontract design management and RF Systems design, development, and test. The individual should be versed in the complete design life cycle. 

  • Determine design approaches and parameters.
  • Perform system design/analysis and SWaP analysis.
  • Utilize modeling tools and equipment to establish operating data, conduct experimental tests, and evaluate results.
  • Select components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability.
  • Perform simulations and present design reviews to peer engineers.
  • Generate schematics, route, and layout PCBs.
  • Execute responsibilities within project cost and schedule constraints.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform Phased Array Radar RF hardware development, such as Low Noise Amplifiers, High Power Amplifiers, Frequency Converters, and Frequency Synthesizers.
  • Perform cascade and link budget analysis of Gain, Noise Figure, Noise Power, Intercept Point, output power, etc.
  • Perform RF/Microwave Device testing and evaluation including s-parameter, large signal load pull characterization as well as modulated signal measurements.
  • Select equipment and construct test benches to evaluate designs to specifications.
  • Able and willing to travel domestically and internationally, up to 25%.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar field and a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience or a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar field and 2 years of related experience
  • Experience performing RADAR and HW maintenance activities.
  • Experience troubleshooting and resolving RADAR, RF and Circuit Level issues.
  • Experience maintaining and repairing depot hardware and equipment to assure availability when needed for system maintenance or repair.
  • Experience operating Phased Array Radar systems.
  • Must possess an active Secret Security Clearance. 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience with PARCS and/or UEWR systems.
  • Experience with customer interface and creating presentations, perform trade studies, design reviews and RF oriented test activities.
  • Experience with RF System Requirements and Proposal generation and support
  • Ability to assess and provide direction for make/buy decisions and selection of strategic suppliers.
  • Familiarity with common commercial RF design and analysis tools to design and analyze RF circuits and systems (i.e., ADS, HFSS, CST, MATLAB, etc.)
