POSITION SUMMARY

The Server’s primary objective is to provide an engaging, friendly, and professional experience that will encourage guests to return repeatedly. The Server can execute this experience by providing friendly and responsive service to the dining experience of each of their guests. May require independent judgment in the disposition of routine matters without direct supervision. Will work under the direct supervision of the Restaurant Manager.

REQUIREMENTS, ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Serve three to four tables as determined by management
  • Maintain complete knowledge of restaurant’s food and beverage preparation
  • Sell alcohol and food items
  • Enter and complete customers’ orders on computer system; accept several types of payment and make change
  • Interact with guests in a friendly and efficient manner; ensure guests’ complete satisfaction by exceeding their expectations
  • Maintain specific side-work and ensure the total cleanliness and smooth operation of the restaurant
  • Clear and reset tables
  • Check identification of guests to consuming alcoholic beverages; refuse to serve beverages in a polite manner to guests who are not of legal age
  • Observe the behavior of guests who have consumed alcoholic beverages, count the number of drinks served, and offer a taxi for those who should not drive, and ask for manager assistance with disorderly customers as needed
  • Report to work in a neat and clean uniform; maintain well-groomed hair and personal hygiene as established by company policy
  • Perform other duties as directed

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Basic mathematical skills: ability to make change
  • Basic reading and writing skills
  • Must be able to work in a standing position for prolonged periods of time (up to 5 hours) and be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift ups to 25 pounds
  • Basic computer skills and ability to operate a point-of-sales system
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Basic understanding of dining room and service procedures and functions
  • Multi-task oriented
  • Must be able to upsell food and beverage items
  • Knowledge of workplace safety procedures

The employee is frequently required to walk, sit; and reach with hands and arms. The employee occasionally lifts and carries tubs and cases weighing up to 25 pounds. The employee must frequently communicate with Dining Room Assistants, Servers, and other staff. The employee is occasionally exposed to hazards including, but not limited to, cuts from knives, slipping, tripping, falls and burns; frequent exposure to smoke, steam, elevated temperatures, humidity, extreme cold; frequent contact/immersion of hands in water, sanitation solutions, meat products, poultry products, seafood and produce items and frequent washing of hands.
