Human Resource Manager Job Description

Job Purpose:

Under the direction of the Project Manager, the Human Resource Manager is responsible for providing counsel in the areas of employee relations within company policy and the established collective bargaining agreement, talent selection and onboarding, exit interviews, unemployment claims, worker's compensation claims, OSHA reporting, FMLA review, adherence to company policy and procedures and other Human Resource related duties.

Essential Functions:

  • Implement and execute staffing plans to include recruitment, onboarding, development, retention and conducting exit interviews. Coordinate and conduct new hire orientation. Process employment packages utilizing ADP, Georgia New Hire and E-Verify. Periodically review packages to ensure the information presented is up to date.
  • Promote summer hire program for a future pool of employees. Attend and conduct job fairs to promote the company and meet employment candidates.
  • Make recomendations for disciplinary actions based on company policies, procedures, and the collective bargaining agreement. Ensure fair and consistent application of policies and procedures by managers.
  • Make recommendations for updates to current policies/procedures based on Human Resource trends. Write drafts for such policies and procedures.
  • Counsel employees and coach managers in order to maintain a positive work environment. Conduct investigations into employee concerns. Utilize employee surveys to convey employee issues to the Project Manager and managers.
  • Maintain OSHA records of employee accidents, identify trends, and make recommendations to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Review FMLA and ADA request to ensure adherence to federal law.
  • Process terminations in ADP and issue DOL-800 separation notices.
  • Review and respond to unemployment claims, represent the company during the Department of Labor unemployment hearings.
  • Oversees the job duties of the Human Resource Clerk and Human Resource Assistant.

Human Resource Manager Job Description

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Researches and stays current on legislative issues in the Human Resources Industry.
  • Performs all other duties, which are deemed by management to be an integral part of the job.

Qualifications Skills/Knowledge/Attributes:

  • Proven communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with all organizational levels.
  • Complete understanding of employment and labor laws.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyz and interpret data.
  • Organizational skills with the ablity to effectively prioritize multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Proficient in Windows applications including Wore, Excel, Outlook, and HRIS.

Experience/Education:

  • 3-5 years' experience in the Human Resources field required.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business or related field required; five years' direct Human Resources experience may be substituted for a formal degree.
  • SHRM-CP, PHR or other HR certification preferred.

Additional Requirement:

  • Clear background and the ability to acquire and maintain clearance for a Common Access Card (CAC).
