Colusa Medical Center,  LLC provides both inpatient and outpatient services, including emergency services, to the surrounding community bringing exceptional healthcare and service to our community.  


POSITION SUMMARY

Assume primary health care of specific patients under the direction of the Medical Director. Follow established nursing standards, procedures and practices, and gives specific patient care directions to nursing and other staff.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Graduate of an accredited Family Nurse Practitioner program. Master’s degree in nursing preferred. Certification as a Nurse Practitioner by the California Board of Registered Nursing. Completed course work to apply for furnishing number. Nurse Practitioner experience of at least one year preferred in a family practice setting, but will consider previous nursing experience. Experience in nursing management, outpatient preferred. Knowledge of rural clinics, billing and office set-up, experience preferred. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Provide primary clinical care of clients of all ages in accordance with standardized procedures. Clinical care includes the following:
    • Obtaining health history
    • Performing physical examination
    • Assessing and managing physical and psychosocial problems.
    • Developing a problem list, a diagnostic, therapeutic and teaching plan, which includes preventive health.
    • Managing emergency cases.
    • Patient education and counseling.
  2. Perform gynecologic screening examinations and diagnostic examinations for gynecologic problems. Offers family planning and STD counseling and services. Does not provide prenatal care.
  3. Assess and counsel families and individuals with mental health problems.
  4. Furnish and adjust medications in the formulary in accordance with the law.
  5. Order diagnostic studies such as laboratory and radiologic tests, as needed.
  6. Refer patients for specialty evaluation and care as needed.
  7. Maintain medical records of care given. Fills out all necessary forms.
  8. Review patient’s records, including laboratory data, for abnormalities and completeness and is responsible for providing appropriate follow-up.

  10. Precept and teach nurse practitioner students and other nursing personnel.
  11. Participate in Nurse Practitioner meetings and meetings with the Medical Director.
  12. Participates in special projects relevant to individual and community health.
  13. Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops.
  14. Adhere to grooming policy.
  15. Demonstrate safe habits in the workplace with concern for the safety of employees and patients.
