SUMMARY:

The Patient Care Technician supports in the delivery of patient care within the Urgent Care Center (UCC) setting. The tech provides direct patient care and admissions support. They are responsible for documentation, order entry, stocking/unit supplies and patient transportation within building or to and from car as required. The tech performs interventions under the direction of the Nurse Practitioner (NP) within the legal limits of their certification, including but not limited to, triaging patients to prioritize care, rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, splinting, lab draws, IV insertion/fluid administration if certified, additional duties as assigned within scope of practice.

DUTIES:

  •  Provide expert, compassionate, individualized patient care for patients and families. Collaborate with providers, staff and other members of the team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
  • Triage incoming patient requests for services as needed; oversee the daily patient flow to optimize patient care, safety and satisfaction using healthcare assessment skills, prioritizing skills and critical thinking skills.
  • Assists with and performs patient care including collection of patient information, accurate reading and documentation of vital signs, and recording activities and treatments on the EMR. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.
  • Performs various procedures, processes, and other duties as assigned under provider delegation
  • Administer medications to patients and records patient responses as directed, within scope.
  • Maintains exam and treatment rooms and other areas. Cleans equipment following established guidelines. Ensures that established standard supply levels are maintained.
  • Protects patients and employees by assisting in maintaining a clean, safe working environment, and adhering to infection control policies and protocols.
  • Ability to work in an environment of strict confidentiality and maintain such an environment, both at work and in off-hours.
  • Perform in accordance with all local, state, and federal laws and regulatory agency standards.
  • Perform in accordance with EPH vision, mission and goals.
  • All other duties as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School diploma level or equivalent; options for continuing education.
