Certified Coding Specialist
Chautauqua County Department of Mental Hygiene
Mayville, NY - On-Site
FULL-TIME Nonexempt : 35 hours/week

Coordinated Care Services Inc (CCSI) seeks a talented Certified Coding Specialist to contribute their expertise in providing essential business services to our provider organizations and customers. The Certified Coding Specialist is assigned to work on behalf of CCSI’s customer and will support the medical billing of the Mental Hygiene Department with specific efforts towards the sustainability of the Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC). This position will serve as a resource and subject matter expert to the billing department regarding coding.


CCSI is partnering with Chautauqua County Department of Mental Hygiene to hire a Certified Coding Specialist. This position is employed by CCSI and working on behalf of Chautauqua County Department of Mental Hygiene.


In this role, you will

  • Comply with all legal requirements regarding coding procedures and practices
  • Conduct audits and coding reviews to ensure all services meet regulation coding requirements
  • Collaborate with billing department to ensure all services meet regulation coding requirements
  • Communicate with insurance companies about coding errors and disputes
  • Serve as resource and subject matter expert to billing department
  • Determine correct codes for client electronic health records
  • Review services to ensure coding is accurate
  • Be a coding resource (in-person, email, phone) to clinical staff
  • Meet appropriate coding standards with the time frame established by management itself
  • Provide training on code selection and documentation for new & existing staff
  • Establish process to monitor coding for new services & staff
  • Collaborate with billers on denials to determine relation to code selection
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent and 3 years of total experience work experience or equivalent education and work experience (see CCSI's equivalency chart)
  • Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Professional Coder
  • Commitment to high level of customer service
  • Familiarity with ICD-9, ICD-10, DSM 5, and SNOW MED codes
  • Mental/Behavioral Health coding background preferred but not required
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

  • Satisfactory completion of all required background screenings.
  • Respect the confidential nature of all CCSI and CCSI customer information you are exposed to in the course of your work performance. Staff working directly with protected health information /electronically stored protected health information, personally identifiable information, and other patient/consumer/customer data, will abide by the specific procedures and policies outlined by CCSI’s Code of Conduct and CCSI’s Privacy and Security Policies, New York State regulations and Federal regulations.
