Position: Recreation Program Leader – Special Classes Department: Various Classification: Temporary

Salary: Range: $17.60 – $20.37/hour

Non - Exempt – Overtime Eligible

Job Summary:

Under general supervision, plans, organizes, and conducts a program of recreational activities at a park, or community center, large facility, or specialized program.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • None
Example of Duties & Responsibilities:

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Opens, secures, and cleans program areas before and after program use; prepares program areas for scheduled recreational activities and events.
  • Prepare fields, picnic shelters, open spaces for recreational use
  • Assists in conducting and monitoring recreational program activities within one or more assigned program areas
  • Inspects program areas and equipment and recommends maintenance and repair as needed
  • General supervision of activities and grounds at various City facilities.
  • Provide the highest level of customer service to both external and internal groups
  • Create a pleasant environment by ensuring park safety
  • Assists with special events, as needed
  • Adhere to City policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as deemed necessary or assigned
Required Skills:
  • Ability to plan, organize and implement youth and adult recreation programs
  • Write reports and evaluations
  • Understand and follow written and oral instructions
  • Deal tactfully and effectively with staff, participants and the public
Education and Experience:
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for acceptable job performance.
