Harney District Hospital is looking to hire a full-time Patient Financial Counselor to join our financial team. The hourly rate starts at $17.33 and increases based on experience. This position is also eligible for our medical, dental, vision and retirement benefits. This position works with patients and/or their representatives to work through financial resources and payment options.

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge of billing and related office procedures and methods, English, grammar, spelling, data entry and retrieval, record keeping, and computer applications software. General knowledge of confidentiality concepts and requirements. Ability to communicate effectively with the public, insurance companies, and staff both orally and in writing. Equivalent to a high school education and over one (1) year office experience, or any satisfactory combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the above duties

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/LICENSES: Hospital Presumptive Eligibility (HPE) Certification. May obtain within 6 months of hire date.

DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS: Previous billing office or patient account experience and previous experience in a medical clinic environment. Knowledge of state and federal Medicaid/Medicare assistance programs. Knowledge of collection law. Basic knowledge of medical terminology and patient care diagnostic codes.
