What we do:

The Manager Experimental Design, Testing is responsible for overseeing a team of engineers and technicians who work on the mechanical structure, mechanism, and system design for testing in support of the long-term goals of the Test, Evaluation & Certification (TEC) Group. The Manager Experimental Design, Testing provides guidance and approval for technical approaches, products, and processes involved in testing, and works closely with the testing design team throughout the conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design phases. This role is heavily involved in building prototypes and flight test aircraft and will implement design solutions to support the installation of test instrumentation data-gathering systems to meet test program objectives. Collaboration with the technical development team is also crucial to this role. The role involves developing and maintaining relationships with internal and external customers and creating standard processes and procedures within the field.

This position will be required to work on-site 5 days a week.

What you can do:
  • Design mechanical and structural testing systems using engineering principles and creative thinking
  • Design mechanical and structural systems and products based on given and derived testing requirements
  • Participate in design reviews and brainstorming sessions, providing guidance as needed
  • Identify process deficiencies and develop solutions for improvement
  • Prepare and author various manuals/templates such as design standards, procedures, work instructions, and processes
  • Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards as required
  • Lead the efforts to procure hardware to support group functions
  • Implement and complete multiple projects simultaneously
  • Develop and engage employees through coaching, mentoring, and performance evaluations
  • Identify growth opportunities and assignments that fit individual and company needs
  • Partner with PMO organization to implement build plan
  • Up to 25% of domestic and international travel
  • Other duties as assigned
What you can contribute:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field required
  • Minimum ten (10) years experience in mechanical design (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in a managerial or team lead role
  • Experience in aircraft or automotive instrumentation design
  • Experience with project management, development programs, and prototyping
  • Experience in creating 3D models of design details using Catia
  • Experience in crafting CNC machining, additive manufacturing, and sheet metal components
  • Ability to solve complex mechanical design problems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proactive delivery of communication and follow up
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Must have the ability to independently prioritize and accomplish work within time constraints
  • Proficiency with Excel VLOOKUP, pivot tables, MS Office Suite
You may also be able to contribute:
  • Experience in flight test instrumentation preferred

Base pay offered may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge and location. This position is also eligible for a bonus as part of total compensation.

The pay range for this position is:
$192,400$289,120 USD
