Astound Broadband Powered by Wave is currently searching for a Construction Technician I, II, or III in our Wilsonville, OR office. This position is responsible for performing basic installation of all necessary cable wiring (interior and exterior) and hardware from the tap to the customer's equipment for the reception of cable and other Company services that are offered for single and multi-family dwellings.

A Day in the Life of the Construction Technician I, II, or III:

  • Perform construction work including coaxial placement, splicing, MDU work including the placement of molding and drop cable, and underground work including service tie-ins.
  • Assist in construction projects including relocations, new developments, MDUs, commercial and residential projects.
  • Perform all work as necessary to conform to quality control guidelines (includes compliance with requirements outlined in applicable regulations such as: OSHA, FCC, and NEC, etc. and following procedures as outlined in the Installation, Technical, Operations, and Safety Manuals, and Employee Handbook).
  • Perform connects (new connects and reconnects), disconnects (requested and non-pays), upgrades, downgrades, and relocates; install additional outlets, and install or remove equipment; connect various options available with customer's equipment per Company policy(s).
  • Assure proper signal levels and picture quality on all television sets, and clean the premises of all debris and materials after the installation is complete.
  • Monitor and record system, drop, and in house leakage; maintain records including daily logs, gas sheets, etc. as required; properly record all required information on work orders, surveys, referrals, etc.
  • Promote cable, Internet, and other Company services; educate customer on proper use of the service, including how to add additional services and access help online, channel lineups, proper equipment usage, and other services that are available; represent Company as needed to collect payments and secure appropriate customer signatures.
  • Experience with and ability to establish traffic control setups for various lane configuration scenarios as necessary to complete job responsibilities. Familiarity with and experience using utility locating devices.
  • Hands on experience related to various construction functions including cable and molding placement, splicing, conduit placement asphalt, concrete and grass restoration.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) with basic knowledge and aptitude in electronics; previous experience utilizing mechanical and/or technical capacity preferred.
  • Minimum of one year in telecommunications or related field preferred. Ability to read and comprehend RF/fiber design and underground infrastructure drawings.
  • Experience estimating and project management preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills necessary to interact with customers, property managers, building engineers, City and governmental entity representatives.
  • Experience with and ability to establish traffic control setups for various lane configuration scenarios as necessary to complete job responsibilities. Familiarity with and experience using utility locating devices.
  • Hands on experience related to various construction functions including cable and molding placement, splicing, conduit placement asphalt, concrete and grass restoration.
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record as determined by the Company.
  • Must be committed to providing exceptional customer service (both external and internal) at all times.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to perform duties at heights of up to 40'. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 70 pounds. Able to work within the specifications, limitations and confines of a ladder.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Ability to work within limited confines, such as crawl spaces.

The base pay range represents the low and high end of the hiring range for this job. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to relevant skills, experience, and capabilities. The base salary range in Oregon for this position, plus opportunities for bonus, benefits and commission, if applicable, is:

  • Construction Technician I - $23.15 - $32.41 per hour
  • Construction Technician II - $24.31 - $34.03 per hour
  • Construction Technician III - $25.53 - $35.74 per hour
