Job Description

Missouri Smelting Technology (MOST), a Toyota Tsusho America Group Company, is seeking an Assistant Manager, Operations for the Jackson, TN location. MOST is a secondary aluminum recycler that receives, processes, and melts aluminum to produce high quality molten and solid products for use by other industries, including the production of automobile parts.

What you will be doing:

Summary: Evaluate and optimize processes for new production introduction, to improve product quality, to reduce cost and ensure employee safety. Recommends and implements improvements to production processes, methods and controls; Coordinates with contractors, maintenance and production operations.

Job duties include but not limited to:

  • Acts as additional supervision for plant operations in order to assist the Plant Manager
  • Bi-Annual Maintenance Shutdown; coordinates, plans and schedules projects/activities; meets completion dates
  • Support Production and Maintenance operations
  • Develop improved designs/specs for new and existing equipment and oversee upgrades and installations
  • Analyze the production process; identifying barriers to achieving employee safety, maximum production output, operational efficiency and product yield; develop and implement solutions to overcome barriers
  • Identify maintenance issues and work with maintenance and production to develop long term corrections and necessary preventative maintenance
  • Measure, track and optimize life of major wear components for development of proactive measures
  • Measure, track, and optimize use of utilities - especially natural gas
  • Evaluate and optimize processes for new product introduction
  • Researches the purchase of equipment or upgrades to existing equipment
  • Provide mechanical engineering design and support on capital project work and equipment issues

What you bring to the table:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 6+ years of related experience preferably in manufacturing engineering or project management
  • Proficient use of CAD software required
  • Excellent written/verbal communication across all levels
  • Ability to utilize Lean production management
