MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIST, MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNICIAN!!

Don’t miss this opportunity to join our Laboratory team! Black River Memorial Hospital has an opening for a Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Technician in our Laboratory Department. The MT/MLT Collects and processes specimens to obtain data for diagnosis and treatment of disease and accurate and timely reporting of test results. Oversees a variety of technical activities and individual section responsibilities to ensure the efficient operation of the department. This position is:

  • Full-time, 80 hours per pay period, Evening shift, every third weekend, and holiday rotation, benefited

ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS

Essential Duties MT/MLT Include:

  • Reads, analyzes, and interprets common scientific and technical journals, manuals, and procedures.
  • Accurately and timely procures and handles specimens.
  • Provides quality service for all aspects of the pre-analytic phase of test performance (reagent, specimen, quality control materials, products and supply preparation, understanding procedures).
  • Provides quality service for all aspects of the analytic phase of test performance (quality control and specimen testing, recognizing the interrelationship of tests, with accurate and precise results).
  • Provides quality service for all aspects of the post-analytic phase of test performance (remedial and corrective action, documentation).
  • Participates in and demonstrates the satisfactory performance of Health and Social Service (HSS)/CMS/CLIA-approved proficiency testing activities.

Essential Duties Phlebotomist Include:

  • Follows policy and procedure manual guidelines for performing various specimen collections as evidenced by periodic monitoring of completed work by a Medical Technologist and/or Medical Lab Technician.
  • Performs arterial, capillary, and venous punctures to obtain satisfactory specimens for assay or transport evidenced by assignment.
  • Performs satisfactory collection of specimens, including obtaining proper documentation at the blood draw and/or occupational health sample collection.
  • Serves with a positive customer service attitude and maintains compliance with documentation requirements.

Educational Qualifications MLT:

  • Associate degree in clinical laboratory science or medical laboratory technician or qualified or could have qualified as a Medical Lab Technician under laboratory regulations published March 14, 1990 (55 FR 9538)
  • MUST meet the CLIA 88 Testing Personnel qualification requirements for a Moderate and High Complexity Testing Laboratory
  • Experience is preferred
  • Certification and/or registration by a national certifying and/or registering organization or certification eligible is preferred
  • BLS certification within 1- year of hire date

Educational Qualifications for MT:

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college in medical technology or clinical laboratory science
  • One-year training/experience in high complexity testing; or equivalent combination of education and experience or qualified as a technologist under laboratory regulations published March 14, 1990 (55 FR 9538)
  • MUST meet the CLIA 88 Testing Personnel qualification requirements for a Moderate and High Complexity Testing Laboratory
  • Certification and/or registration by a national certifying and/or registering organization or certification eligible is preferred
  • BLS certification within 1- year of hire date

Educational Qualifications for Phlebotomist:

  • Certification in Phlebotomy with the American College of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) preferred
  • Excellent communication, listening, speaking, and writing skills

  • BLS certification within 1- year of hire
