Job Description

Customer Service and Sales Representative Position Summary:

The Customer Service and Sales Representative is responsible for focusing on current customer growth, as well as new customer acquisition and receiving, investigating, and responding to all customer inquiries regarding shipments, products, and complaints.

Customer Service and Sales Representative Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Understand our business from manufacturing to marketing to customer service/sales by developing a strong and in-depth knowledge of the company’s products and our position in the channels we serve
  • Receive and enter phone and fax orders as well as make changes to or cancel orders/backorders
  • Initiate orders for replacement parts and/or for correcting errors (shortages, wrong item shipped, etc.)
  • Contact current and potential customers through, but not limited to phone calls and email
  • Fill out forms, determine changes for service requested
  • Track weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly performance sales metrics
  • Handle customers in a professional manner
  • Communicate with other departments as needed to resolve customer inquiries, updates, and/or complaints
  • Remains knowledgeable and up-to-date on current and new products
  • Interacts with customers via telephone or email to provide support and information on products, orders, returns, and/or shipments
  • Ensures that appropriate actions are taken to resolve customer problems and concerns
  • Maintains customer accounts and records of customer interactions with details of inquiries, complaints, or comments.
  • Assist outside sales staff with administrative tasks, customer follow-up, etc.
  • Other duties, as assigned

Customer Service and Sales Representative Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate)
  • Bachelor’s degree a plus
  • Minimum 2 years of sales and customer service experience
  • Agriculture/Lawn & Garden background/experience preferred

Customer Service and Sales Representative Skills and/or Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills a must
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office products required.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15+ pounds at times.
  • Ability to work in and maintain a quiet and professional office environment.
