Blue Cross Blue Shield of Vermont hires Vermont college students each summer to provide them an opportunity for a corporate experience in their field or area of interest, while also bringing value to our organization. Our paid intern positions provide meaningful, interesting work in your area of study. Interns work 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday during the summer.

Interns are encouraged to dive into our corporate culture of caring, participating in the various health and wellness initiatives of our STRIVE Program, or volunteering at a community event as a member of our Blue Crew. They are also given the opportunity to present their summer’s body of work to their colleagues and our executive team in August.

REMOTE WORK: Blue Cross is requiring all employees who live within a 50-mile radius of the office to work onsite on Wednesdays (unless an exemption is granted). Interns will be expected to follow this same requirement. Some interns may be required to work onsite more than one day a week, as per the need within their department.


Legal Services AND Provider Contracting (two departments)

$18/hour

The Legal Services intern will work on an array of important legal and regulatory projects, as well as assisting our Provider Contracting department. It is anticipated that the intern will:

  • Assist in drafting legal memoranda concerning new state and federal regulations
  • Assist with rate filings and participate in various litigations
  • Research day-to-day legal questions and all manner of legal projects
  • Assist in reviewing and revamping payment policies
  • Assist with projects as needed in our Provider Contracting department

Qualifications:

  • Major or Course of Study: Law student – preferably 1st or 2nd year and with interest in business and/or healthcare law.
  • Skills: Strong legal research, writing, and critical thinking skills, standard computer skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
