This role is onsite full-time and based at our Bardstown, KY location.

What the Role Is

The Maintenance Engineering Manager serves as the technical leader for all internal maintenance and automation for the Bardstown facility. This includes safety, quality, production and continuous improvement initiatives and is key in supporting and leading the Total Productive/Preventive Maintenance initiative.

How You Will Spend Your Time?

  • Provide direct and indirect supervision, technical direction, administrative management and leadership in the maintenance areas including the supervision of Maintenance Mechanics and Industrial Maintenance Technicians, Apprentices’ and outside Maintenance/Electrical Contractors
  • Drive implementation of lean practices in Maintenance and Engineering in support of the Heaven Hill Production System through 5S, standard work, problem solving, TPM, CI initiatives and others needed.
  • Provide technical leadership to and partner with the production/operations teams
  • Lead maintenance staff to ensure that capital projects are planned, developed and executed in a timely manner, consistent with our key performance indicators of reliability, productivity, quality safety and 5S
  • Develop, implement and oversee spare parts inventory to ensure effective predictive, preventive and corrective maintenance programs
  • Report to upper management on work execution status, system/line reliability issues, concerns and desires
  • Provide environment for cross-functional interaction and establish best practices across departments
  • Development and application of reliability maintenance, root cause analysis and troubleshooting of equipment and processes
  • Coach and develop training plans for all maintenance personnel
  • Actively coach and develop maintenance apprentice
  • Utilize metrics to improve organizational performance
  • Drive and own maintenance efficiencies and cost reduction opportunities
  • Build robust maintenance processes/procedures
  • Utilize IFS Maintenance module for inventory management, creation of work orders, and preventive maintenance planning

Who You Are…

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical/engineering field
  • Seven (7) years’ prior experience in a maintenance/engineering leadership role
  • Strong maintenance, engineering, and project management skills
  • Proven track record in implementing plant preventative maintenance and maintenance metrics.
  • Mechanical knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
  • Mathematics knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods
  • Ability to work with PLC computer-based control systems
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities
  • Must be goal oriented, action focused, self-disciplined, accomplished at project planning, organizing, communication and team motivation
  • Responsive to input, diplomacy and persuasion, ability to find common ground and problem resolution
  • Self-starter with team approach
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Effective negotiator
  • Proficient with Microsoft programs including Excel, Outlook, and Word
  • Proven success leading people and managing projects

Valued but not Required Skills and Experience:

  • Previous experience in distilled spirits industry
  • Lean manufacturing experience

Physical Requirements
While performing duties of job, employee is consistently required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, and use of computer; reach with hands and arms. Employees must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50-60 pounds.
