Behavioral Health Clinician - Substance Use Disorder

SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Director of Behavioral Health, and as a part of a multidisciplinary team the Behavioral Health Clinician will provide direct services including individual (adolescents and adults), couple, family, and group therapeutic services to patients struggling with mental health and substance use disorders. Collaborating with CCHS MOUD providers on patient treatment.

The behavioral health co-occurring clinician works with a variety of patients with behavioral health disorders and assist them in becoming as healthy and engaged as possible in the community, using recovery language and principles. The behavioral health co-occurring clinician provides education, consultation and guidance geared toward increasing awareness and building capacity to service those with co-occurring disorders in CCHS integrated behavioral health program. The goal being the provision of comprehensive integrated treatment that addresses mental, and substance use disorders simultaneously which improves treatment outcomes and the quality of life for those who need these services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Provides assessment, direct services and/or internal and external organization referrals for clients.
  • Develops client assessments and treatment plans and maintains accurate and timely clinical records according to organization policy.
  • Prepares and Reviews necessary reports, summaries and progress notes, and incorporates into clinical records.
  • Performs consultation and liaison duties with other agencies and resources on behalf of the client.
  • Monitors medication regimes and treatment compliance.
  • Monitors utilization of services and the success of outcome measures.
  • Narrow the knowledge gap between MH and SUD service providers by helping team members gain skills needed to become co-capable and/or co-credentialed. Specific skills set includes:
  • Early detection, identification, and treatment of co-occurring disorders.
  • Recognition of stages of changes and utilization of motivational interviewing to encourage movement towards recovery
  • Understanding how the six dimensions of ASAM criteria are used to create holistic, biopsychosocial assessments that guide treatment planning processes across all services and levels of care.
  • How to make appropriate referrals to partner providers that will fit client need.
  • Participates in team member meetings, consultations, case presentations and in-service training.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Relates to a wide variety of people including members of ethnic and sexual minority populations and is respectful of individual and cultural differences.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS

  • Has an advanced level of understanding of the concepts of individual and Group therapy evidenced-based practices to provide services.
  • Possesses and routinely demonstrates a strong working knowledge of the mental and/or behavioral health and support resources of all CCHS service counties.
  • Understands recovery concepts in behavioral health; synthesizes and applies, as appropriate to their work at CCHS.
  • Ability to learn new tasks and skills quickly, and to manage and prioritize multiple tasks, while simultaneously managing crisis.
  • Ability to demonstrate the capacity to appreciate and work well with the complex and diverse population.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Working knowledge of MD Mental Health and Substance use policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge and experience with evidence-based practices, including trauma informed care framework.
  • Strong clerical/administrative skills including personal computer skills (Microsoft Office software).
  • CPR Certification
  • Valid MD driver’s license

QUALIFICATIONS/POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Education and Licensure:
    • MD Licensed Clinician (LCSW-C, LCPC, LCADC, LMFT, LMSW, LGPC, LGCADC, LGMFT)
    • Master's degree from an accredited University
  • Credentialing and Privileging
    • Must be able to meet and maintain the CCHS credentialing requirements
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 2 years' experience providing co-occurring treatment to adults, adolescents, and families

Salary Range: Negotiable depending on experience.
