We are looking for a motivated Bindery Operator who wants to be part of a company that fosters teamwork and embraces craftmanship, quality and service.

POSITION OVERVIEW: The Folder Gluer Operator is responsible for providing finishing services for converted die cut material in compliance with job specifications and company quality standards. Gluer Operator follows the workload schedule to meet the customer deadlines. The Gluer Operator also performs daily/weekly/monthly maintenance on all Gluing equipment to ensure optimum output and works closely with other staff members to exceed customer satisfaction and service expectations.

The Gluer Operator is a member of the production team and accountable for:

  • Meeting the department production and quality goals.
  • Playing a key role in meeting the company wide profitability and customer satisfaction goals by providing guaranteed satisfaction and value to our customers.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

General and Administrative:

  • Coordinate with department lead and production team to produce and prioritize jobs.
  • Comply with all OSHA and Printcraft safety requirements.
  • Participate as a key player of the production team by supporting operations as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with the General Manager, Owner, Production Manager, sales team, and the production team; informing and updating them regularly to guarantee sales objectives and customer objectives are being met.
  • Follow systems and procedures outlined in company manuals.

Folder Gluer Operations:

  1. Make-ready, adjust and run job as to meet safety and productivity standards.
  1. Examine job order to determine glue placement and proper folding of specified orders.
  2. Make necessary adjustments to ensure quality
  3. Ensure information is communicated between shifts
  4. Ensure Company Safety, ISO, Quality and Production standards are met
  5. Perform proper and required maintenance as well as cleaning of folder Gluers and logging accurate maintenance logs
  6. Maintenance duties include stooping under machinery, entering confined spaces and climbing ladders.
  7. Must input information into computer for proper tracking of inventory and waste.

Equipment and Supplies:

  • Clean and maintain equipment and work area following maintenance procedures and update maintenance logs.
  • Monitor and manage gluing supplies, order materials as instructed.
  • Inform supervisor of equipment problems.

ABILITIES REQUIRED / WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Standing for prolonged periods of time – up to 8 hours or more per day.
  • Bending, twisting, stooping and occasional kneeling to clear jams
  • Frequent lifting of objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Work area will have florescent lighting and temperature variations.
  • Noise level is usually moderate to loud.
  • Exposure to ink, chemical fumes, and airborne particles such as paper dust and drying powder, hot glue, cold glue, and belt cleaning chemicals
  • Fast-paced environment subject to numerous schedule and priority changes and short notice activity.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent with experience or vocational/technical certification.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Good mathematical skills.
  • Comfortable on computer
  • 1-3 years running a Folder gluer is strongly preferred
  • Able to apply written instructions to machine set-up and maintenance.
  • Reliable attendance, punctuality, and attention to workstation.
