Job Description

Under the supervision of the Chief Financial Officer, the Financial Analyst’s primary responsibility is to provide comprehensive financial analysis and support to the hospital’s management team. The financial analyst plays a crucial role in monitoring and evaluating the financial performance of the hospital, identifying areas of improvement, and assisting in strategic decision-making processes. By analyzing financial data and trends, you will help ensure the hospital’s financial stability and sustainability.

Essential Functions

  • Prepare, analyze, and interpret financial reports, statements, and metrics to assess the hospital's financial performance.
  • Conduct variance analysis to identify deviations from budgeted targets and provide explanations for the variances.
  • Collaborate with department managers to develop annual operating budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Monitor budget performance throughout the year, investigate variances, and provide recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Assist in the preparation of long-term financial projections and strategic financial planning.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to support decision-making processes and improve overall financial performance.
  • Analyze revenue cycle processes, including billing and collections, to identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies.
  • Collaborate with revenue cycle management teams to improve revenue cycle performance and optimize reimbursement processes.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, accounting standards, and government reporting requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial data for audits, tax filings, and regulatory surveys.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Ability to analyze and interpret data and prepare concise and accurate financial reports.
  • Ability to understand, develop, and enhance computer spreadsheet applications for specific financial modeling, with proficiency in Excel.
  • Knowledge of healthcare reimbursement systems, revenue cycle management, and healthcare financial regulations.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial analysis and reporting.
  • Excellent computer skills and EMR knowledge.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors in accounting, Finance or related business field, or equivalent finance experience in a healthcare environment.
  • 2-3 years experience in finance or accounting.
  • Previous budgeting, analysis, and financial applications experience.
  • Experience and proficiency in preparing and conducting presentations and training programs.
