Position Description:

As the Utilities Trainer, you will be responsible for developing and delivering comprehensive training programs to ensure the safe, efficient, and optimal operation of our power generation facility. You will work closely with both new and experienced plant operators, providing them with the knowledge and skills required to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot power plant equipment. You will play a pivotal role in enhancing the performance and safety of our plant operations.

Essential Duties:
  • Create and update training manuals, presentations, and multimedia content to support plant operations training.
  • Conduct classroom and hands-on training sessions for plant operators, focusing on safety protocols, equipment operation, and maintenance procedures.
  • Provides assistance and support to all the Utilities Department Leaders in helping them determine their teams training needs and develop and conduct their area specific training programs.
  • Track and document that team members are receiving required time in training program. Give feedback to the management team if they do not meet requirements.
  • Provide timely feedback to team members on progression through training and create a "skills matrix" for tracking purposes.
  • Interpret technical manuals, sketches, prints, instructions, manufacturer’s data and equipment history records while incorporating the applicable information in developing process procedures.
  • Collaborate with other departments, including maintenance, engineering, and safety, to ensure a holistic approach to training and plant operations.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, industrial engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree is a plus.
  • 5+ years’ experience Power Plant experience.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to troubleshoot operational issues and provide practical solutions.
  • Solid understanding of safety protocols, environmental regulations, and industry best practices related to solvent extraction operations.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Flexibility to adapt training approaches to different learning styles and skill levels.
  • Strong commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
  • Experience delivering technical training or providing on-the-job training at a Combined Cycle Power Plant.
  • Experience or knowledge in Combustion Turbine, and Heat Recovery Steam Generator.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three years Technical Training experience; combined with 5 years’ experience at a Power Plant.
  • Combined Cycle Power Plant experience preferred.
  • Valid State Driver's License.
Knowledge, skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge and understanding of personnel protective equipment and safety requirements.
  • Knowledge and understanding of detail Combined Cycle operating related principles and processes.
  • Ability to work near energized and/or rotating equipment in a safe manner.
  • Cross train to support Water Treatment, Zero Liquid Discharge and Safety training.
  • Read and interpret P&ID and Single Line Diagrams.
  • Demonstrated strong ability to communicate effectively with members and management at all levels within the organization.
  • Proven ability to solve problems and develop solutions.
  • Proven ability to deliver high quality training in an effective and professional manner.
  • Practical knowledge of Learning Management System.
  • Proven ability to develop and recommend creative solutions to support technical learning.
  • Proved ability for continuous learning across a variety of Utilities area (Power, Water, Natural Gas, Zero Liquid Discharge).
  • Proven ability to use a personal computer and MS Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of auxiliary Combined Cycle equipment and how it supports plant operations.
  • Can perform troubleshooting, diagnose, and repair operational problems.
  • Hands-on experience and knowledge of plant chemistry and how it relates to plant operations.


The expected pay rate is $105,000 to $120,000. The actual pay rate offered may vary based on multiple factors including, but not limited to experience, knowledge, skills, and/or location.
