Job Summary:


Directly supervise a team of employees responsible for performing coating/finishing processes of metal components to protect them against corrosion and wear. Finishing operations include but are not limited to Electroplating, Anodizing, powder coating, and lacquer application on primarily metal parts. The Finishing Supervisor must be knowledgeable about the coating application processes, chemicals used, and an in-depth understanding of the substrate metal properties. The Finishing Supervisor must also be able to follow all safety protocols and keep accurate records of work completed.


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and supervise the plating / anodizing / coating processes withing the manufacturing facility to ensure high quality output and adherence to industry standards.
  • Review schedule and ensure the production plan meets the requirements for on time delivery to the customer.
  • Manage and training of the plating & coating staff, as well as managing inventory and ordering supplies.
  • Conduct regular inspections of equipment, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate maintenance activities.
  • Collaborate with other departments to optimize production processes and meet overall manufacturing goals.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations and maintain a safe working environment for the team.
  • Lead measures to improve the quality, safety, productivity, and delivery of assigned areas.
  • Develop an environment that supports employee involvement, teamwork, and personnel development.
  • Provide regular feedback to employees regarding goals, performance, initiatives, and company programs.
  • Promote employee involvement through delegation of responsibility and accountability at the employee level. Act as a facilitator in group problem solving efforts.
  • Establish, in conjunction with the Production Manager and Director of Operations, cell performance measures that are tracked on a regular basis to insure cell goals support plant and corporate goals.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or required.

Education/Knowledge: Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, or Chemical Engineering or related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and supervisory experience and training. Knowledge of electro-plating, anodizing, dry and wet paint application processes, and equipment.


Experience: Minimum 6 years of Leadership experience in a metal finishing environment. Strong knowledge of plating, plating prep, plating bath care, anodizing, and coating processes (preferably with nickel, chromium, and cyanide plating processes). Experience with ISO 9001 and AS9100 quality standards preferred. Experience in leading and training teams and managing daily operations. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. Minimum of three years' experience in an international customer service type position. Lead experience preferred but not required. Knowledge of door hardware product applications and bi-lingual capabilities preferred (but not required).


Skills: Ability to evaluate the chemical and physical properties of various organic and inorganic substances. Utilize established methods and procedures and laboratory equipment to perform analytical testing. Ability to maintain quality control standards. Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve related to equipment and chemistry. Ability to setup and operate plating, anodize, and paint application lines. Good communication skills. Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and Teams.


Physical Requirements: Normal office environment which requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, and see. May involve the ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects of up to 15 to 20 pounds, infrequently. Ability to be active in a manufacturing environment.
