The City of O'Fallon, MO is looking to hire a full time Utility Worker I for our Distribution Crew. Are you looking for a position where you'll build on your knowledge of water distribution systems? Our Utility Workers earn competitive hourly rates from $ 24.72 to $ 37.10 (top of grade) with an expected starting rate of $24.72. As part of our Water and Sewer Division, you will be responsible for participating in the work of an assigned crew of personnel engaged in the maintenance and repair of the water distribution system or the sanitary sewer collection system. Generally, your schedule will be daytime hours Monday through Friday, but overtime hours may be required occasionally.

Responsibilities and duties include:

  • Assists with repairs to plumbing, process equipment and electrical systems.
  • Repairs and maintains water lines, sewer lines, valves, manholes, fire hydrants, meters and lift stations.
  • Operates a variety of equipment, including front-end loader, backhoe, and dump truck.
  • Ensure safe work sites.
  • Collects samples for laboratory tests and assists in the analysis.
  • Transports equipment and supplies to and from job sites.
  • Notifies residents of repairs and addresses citizen concerns.
  • Responds to after-hour emergencies
  • Assist other city crews as needed
  • Assist with customer service and utility locates request
  • Assists with snow removal.

We're looking for someone who is knowledgeable in the construction, maintenance and repair of the maintenance and repair of water distribution systems.

Requirements include:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to be on-call evenings and weekends and to work long hours outside in all types of weather conditions.
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid Class A commercial driver's license issued by the State of Missouri for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain a Class A Collections System Operator Certification or Class III Distribution Certification
  • Able to work in confined spaces, as defined by OSHA
