For the 2024-25 School Year

TITLE: High School Associate Principal

LOCATION: Clear Creek Amana High School

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Iowa Administrative License: Secondary Principal Endorsement
  • Iowa Evaluator License
  • Master's Degree
  • Minimum of five years of teaching experience at secondary level

REPORTS TO: High School Principal or Designee

SUPERVISES: Academic and Support personnel employed in the High School

JOB SUMMARY: To provide leadership, supervisory, and administrative skills that promote the educational development of all students.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 260 or 262 days of service.

Administrative terms and conditions as established by the Board of Education.

EVALUATION: Job performance will be evaluated in accordance with board policy.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. VISION
  • Sets priorities in the context of improving student achievement
    • Member of administrative team responsible for school-wide planning
    • Assists in the development and implementation of a building improvement plan in alignment with district learning goals and student needs
  • Articulates and promotes high expectations for teaching and student learning
    • Assists in the recruitment, hiring and induction of teachers and staff to support quality instruction
    • Consistently implements building academic guidelines and good conduct plans
  1. CULTURE AND INSTRUCTIONAL PROGRAM
  • Provides leadership, encouragement, opportunities, and structure for all staff to continually design more effective teaching and learning experiences for all students.
    • Supports Principal with staff evaluation and direction for improving instruction
    • Develops and supports professional development of staff to improve student learning
    • Facilitates designated department meetings and building level learning teams
    • Conducts frequent 'walk through' observations and assessments of high school classrooms
    • Coordinates development of curriculum extensions and adaptations to provide for diverse student learning needs
  • Provides leadership for assessing, developing and improving school environment and culture.
    • Assists with student supervision and support during the school day.
    • Assets with student supervision and support for school activities.
  1. MANAGEMENT
  • Support High School Principal in daily management and operation of the High School
    • Demonstrates effective communication skills with a variety of stakeholders in the operation of the school
    • Addresses problems in a timely manner
    • Assure building, equipment, and support systems operate safely, efficiently and effectively
  • Support High School Principal with managing club and activities sponsors and groups.
  1. COLLABORATION
  • Engages the community to create shared responsibility for student and school success.
    • Provides frequent reports to the community
    • Organizes orientation program for prospective students/families
    • Connects students and families to health, human and social services as needed
    • Maintains existing partnerships and create additional community connections to enrich student learning opportunities- (i.e. University of Iowa graduate programs-Art, Social Work, School Psychology; Belin-Blank Center; Kirkwood Community College-Workplace Learning Connection, High School Academies; Grant Wood AEA-support services)
