Job Summary:
We are a K-7th grade full inclusion campus. We are looking to add a second SPED teacher to our campus to help with the current caseload. We have one full time SPED teacher on campus are wanting to add another. We have a SPED Coordinator on campus to support our Ed. Specialists. We are our own LEA so we do all of our SPED Services in-house, or contract out for specialties (OT, APE, etc).
DESCRIPTION OF BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides and coordinates a personalized learning plan for students with special needs and identified learning disabilities. Provides instructional, behavioral, and social-emotional planning and direct services for students. Assists in the assessment and report writing for special education and regular education programs. Will be responsible for writing annual goals and short-term objectives for the IEP. Attends staff meetings, IEP meetings, Student Study Team meetings.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Responsible for instructing students identified as having exceptional needs, regardless of grade level, and training and supervising instructional aides to provide instruction, in accordance with the plans outlined by the students’ Individual Education Programs (IEP).
2. Involved in the personalized learning plan and support of general education students identified through the Student Study Team process or Section 504 of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
3. Assesses, evaluates, and makes periodic reports on students' achievement and personal adjustment in cooperation with the parents, administration, and teaching staff.
4. Coordinates Special Education services with general education programs for each individual with exceptional needs enrolled in the Special Education Program.
5. Provides consultation, resource information, and materials regarding individuals with exceptional needs to their parents and staff members.
6. At the appropriate time during the academic year provides:
a. A summary of the student’s progress toward IEP goals.
b. The results of specific measures of the student’s progress.
c. A summary of the methods and/or materials utilized in the student’s instructional program.
d. Assumes responsibility for updating the IEP and writing annual goals and short-term objectives for the identified students.
7. Performs other related Special Education duties as specified by the IEPs, Executive Director, Principal, School Directors, and the Special Education Director.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Keeps abreast of all types of new instructional equipment and materials that might be used in remedial instruction.
2. Maintains professional competence by participation in special in-services and staff development training sessions offered by the School and Special Education Local Plan Area.
Education, Experience and Requirements
Under the immediate direction of the Executive Director/designee and/or Site Principal, with staff assistance from the Special Education Director.
Possess a current, clear California Education Specialist Credential or qualify for an Internship, showing annual progress as required by the State of California;
- Annually obtain thirty (30) hours of professional development;
- Valid California Drivers License/Proof of insurance;
- TB test clearance;
- Criminal justice fingerprint processing. Schedule:
  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
