What Does a CDL Driver Do?

  • Provides exceptional customer service by engaging with customers, greeting and thanking them, and assisting with their needs
  • Delivers and unloads customer materials locally ensuring a superior customer experience
  • Utilizes and assists forklift operations when loading/unloading
  • Verifies materials are in good condition, accurately accounted for, and delivered to the customer on time
  • Organizes and secures loads, following appropriate safety procedures
  • Completes equipment safety and maintenance pre-inspections ensuring the safety and security of the loading and unloading process
  • Builds positive relationships with the customers and ensures their needs are met
  • Additional duties as assigned


What Does It Take to Be Successful as a CDL Driver?

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
  • 1+ years of experience as a CDL driver
  • A clean driving record with no major traffic violations
  • Must be physically fit and able to handle the demands of operating a large vehicle
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and responsible driving practices
  • Good communication skills are essential for interacting with customers, dispatchers, and team members effectively
  • Being attentive to the condition of the vehicle and cargo, as well as accurately completing documentation, is crucial for this role
  • Results-oriented with the ability to serve stores with humility and be a steward of Nation’s Best’s values
