Job summary:

The Dietary Aide plays an important role in supporting the Dietary department with the preparation of serving meals to residents or patients in the facility. Departments the Dietary Aide will serve is the hospital, nursing home, and assisted living. The Dietary Aide will work under the supervision of the Dietary Manager guides the Dietary Aide and ensures communication for meals preparation is supported and understood. The Dietary Aide assists with arranging plates or trays, proper food serving techniques, ensuring food safety and sanitation, interaction with residents/patients. This role will also be responsible for meeting proper sanitation standards including proper storage, handling, and disposal of food items and cleanliness of the kitchen.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

  • Proficiently be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Must be able to work independently and be able to work effectively as a team member.
  • Ability to learn and understand food safety principles.
  • Strong organizational skills to support kitchen operations and maintain kitchen cleanliness.
  • Familiarity with use of kitchen equipment, such as a dishwasher and meal trays/cart, etc.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Commitment to support quality/infection control.
  • Must strive for providing high-quality food service to patients, residents, and staff.
  • Ability to become familiar and gain basic nutritional principles and dietary guidelines to assist in meal planning/preparation.
  • Must have the ability to adapt to personalities of residents and/or coworkers and use tact in all forms of communication.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Graduate or GED. 15 years or older.
  • Experience with food service operations in healthcare setting (preferred).
  • Basic understanding of food safety principles and regulations (preferred).
  • Must pass MN background check, accompanied with figure printing.
  • Complete TB test within the first 3 weeks of employment.

JOB SCHEUDLE/LOCATION(S):

  • Hallock, MN
  • Full-time or Part-time or Flex
  • Shift 5:30am-1:30pm and/or 3:30pm-7:00pm; flexibility for split shifts
  • Every other weekend and every other holiday availability
  • Nursing Home/Long-term care and Hospital setting
