Job Summary

Thome PACE (Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly) is a program that fulfills a wide range of healthcare needs for the elderly within the familiarity and comfort of their own homes and community. Under the immediate supervision of the Clinical Pharmacist and Clinic Department leadership, the pharmacy technician provides daily pharmaceutical supportive services for the Thome PACE clinic and Medication Cueing Assistance Program. The pharmacy technician will be provided with training and certification to administer medications to participants. This position requires reliable transportation and entry into participant homes. The pharmacy technician will work independently in the community as well as on-site at the PACE facility. Additional tasks will be assigned as needed by the Clinical Pharmacist or Clinic Department leadership.

Position Functions and Duties

Assures efficient, timely and accurate delivery and distribution of medications and medication orders
Provides medication cueing and administration to participants in the home or at Thome PACE facility
Identifies and communicates issues with medication compliance to supervisor clinic in a timely fashion
Maintains accurate inventory of stock medication at PACE
Ensures assigned inspections are performed on time each month if applicable
Adheres to HIPAA requirements and maintains confidentiality of all data, including participants, employee, and operations information.
Ensures accurate charting and data-entry into electronic medical record
Follows safety requirements to prevent the transmission of disease when visiting participants face-to-face or on-site at Thome PACE
Must be dependable and punctual
Rotating weekend and holiday shifts
May have to work evening shifts until 8pm

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED required
Current Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) license with the State of Michigan
Ability to visually identify commonly prescribed medications
Proficient computer (Outlook, Word, and Excel) and typing skills
Ability to operate a calculator and use intermediate math skills
Ability to communicate clearly both in-person and over the phone
Ability to work effectively with others
Ability to multitask, to manage several different projects at once and ensure that everything gets completed in a timely manner
Must have great attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and quality
Driver’s license must be active and in good standing
Reliable transportation required
PTCB certification preferred
Previous experience of at least 2 years (preferred)
Previous experience working with elderly populations (preferred)
Experience with multiple forms of medication packaging (preferred)
