Position Overview:
Required licenses and certifications: CDL B LICENSE, HAZMAT, TANKER.
Schedule: Monday - Friday Days: 5:00AM Start. 10-12 Hour Shifts.
Drive a straight truck with a capacity of at least 26,000 GVW to transport and deliver petroleum-based products. There will be exposure to dust, fumes, high and low temperatures, slippery surfaces, low-lighted work areas and high noise levels. Fuel tank driver may be required to drive in hazardous conditions, including weather, tight quarters, and inner-city locations. Compliance with all DOT, Company and Safety Policies, procedures and practices are required at all times.
Primary Duties:
Able to drive both manual and automatic transmission transport vehicles in various road conditions throughout Michigan and surrounding states.
Maneuver trucks into loading and unloading positions, checking that vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned.
Load fuels as instructed at designed truck rack using fuel arms and hoses that require lifting requirements of 50 pounds without assistance.
Responsible for general maintenance of truck, including but not limited to: checking oil and fuel levels
Complete all “pre-trip” requirements before each truck run and “post-trip” requirement at the end of each shift. This requires ability to push 146 pounds and pull 146 pounds.
Able to lift 50 lbs. of necessary equipment and physically be able to load and unload trucks. Ability to operate Smart Logix computer system or similar.
Ability to climb ladder with a minimum of 3 rungs regularly throughout shift.
Ability to read and complete written documentation with respect to Bill of Lading, Inventory, Pre and Post trips inspections, Orders and Fuel ticket copies. Ensure fuel tickets match orders.
Follows company quality, safety and environmental guidelines as well as employee handbook policies.
Other duties as assigned by management and operate in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
Skills and Qualifications of Fuel Tank Driver:
Experience driving in all types of weather conditions.
Pass pre-employment DOT physical, drug screen, 7-year criminal background check and Clearinghouse query.
Acceptable driver’s license and must be able to pass a road test given by Corrigan.
