VTC Engineer-Programmer (Entry to Mid-Entry Level)

Designs and develops information programming for hardware, computer systems, and electrical components. Overall conducts duties as Engineer/Programming and Firmware updates to all VTC related item and IPTV servers.

GDIT JOB DESCRIPTION:
Works in a DOD environment that support well over 2000 clients. Works under direction of Senior Advisor and the Section Manager to report progress and challenges encountered during install/test/upgrade/build hardware solutions that can be used to build and maintain the Collaboration missions.

Job duty hours are from 0900hrs thru 1800hrs (9am - 6pm) Mon-Fri.

On call for weekends and Holidays

Possible travel within the USSOUTHCOM Area of Responsibilities

Primary duty is VTC Tech support, followed by entry to mid-entry engineering and programming.

Designs, develops, implement, and analyze hardware for VTC/IPTV (Programming and Engineer)

Develop test strategies to test hardware mechanisms.

Develops the strategy and devices to facilitate performance and stress testing for hardware components

Troubleshoots challenges related to the engineering of hardware products.

Provides solutions and/or recommendations to obtain a proper functional IPTV systems

Compiles input and test steps in Engineering Installation Plans (EIP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to validate and ready crucial documentation designed to back and support hardware solution

Draft specifications and documentation for hardware components and computer systems

Provide recommendation and improvement for hardware engineering processes

Participate in special hardware engineering projects, builds, interface firmware and programming.

Communicate and report daily status on all tasks, for all engineers and associates, to the Senior Advisor and Section Manager

Perform other job-related duties as assigned based on VTC requirement via leadership and customers/clients

May coach and provide guidance to less-experienced professionals

HOW A HARDWARE PROGRAMMER and ENGINEER ADVISOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:
• Designs and develops information processing hardware, computer systems, and electrical components
• Must be dependable and work individually or as a team to accomplish a desired positive engineer solutions and outcome.
• Work hand in hand as a unified team alongside other sections such as Systems Admin, Network Engineer, Cable Team, VTC Bridge, and Configuration management sections, to accomplish a positive customer based support and outcome regarding VTC and A/V services and support.
• Detailed dynamics of providing first class technology services, support, and configuration to enable a hardware or device to function in a consistent and adequate manner that provides consistent services.
• Conduct daily device and hardware checks and services to maintain a consistent serviceability. Daily checks will aid in minimizing and preventing premature failures of hardware, devices, and equipment failures.
• Account for day-to-day work, ethics, responsibilities and provide hands on knowledge to enhance overall capabilities all while building teamwork.
• Perform duties with details analysis, follow blueprint schematic knowledge and incorporating system assembly and configurations.
• Ensure new developments are aligned with infrastructure requirements and to DOD standards.
• Must be self driven with the utmost initiative (Can Do Positive Attitude)
• Positive Open minded individual with the utmost ethics and integrity

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
• Education: Technical Training, Certification(s) or AA Degree at a minimum, close to (Less than a Year) to conclude a BA Degree or currently holds a BA degree in the Information Technology Career Field
• Required Experience: 5+ years of related experience in Programming, Engineering, Customer Service and Support, Diagnostic Troubleshooting, System Servers and Routers
• Required Technical Skills: Ability to read schematics, communicate professionally and concisely, perform Virtual Telecommunications task, administrative processing and scheduling.
• Security Clearance Level: Interim SECRET to start, but must be processed for TOP SECRET/ Secret Compartmental Information TS/SCI LVL-5 with in 9 months of employment.
• Required Skills and Abilities: SEC+, Python, Global Scripter, PowerShell, and SEC+. Read and Comprehend blueprints, troubleshoot system hardware, firmware, and configure specific systems such as Extron, Cisco Servers, IPTV encoders, cameras, mics, touch panels, monitors, speakers, media ports, switchers and routers.
• Ability to program devices and other hardware that are relevant to achieving a operational end status.
• Preferred Skills: Connect point to point communications (Bridging Calls), Microsoft platforms, AutoCAD, work on servers and switchers
• Location: On-Site at SOUTHCOM and temporary travel to SOUTHCOM AOR
• US Citizenship Required: Must have a US Passport or the ability to obtain a US Passport for this position.
