Agile Product Owner

General Job Description:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Agile Product Owner to join our team. The agile product owner plays a pivotal role in ensuring the development of a user-centered software project aimed at mental health providers in schools, private practice, and clinics. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of Agile methodologies, and a passion for delivering high-quality EdTech products. This role is available as a remote employment opportunity.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Define and communicate the product vision to the development team and other key stakeholders.
• Prioritize and maintain the product backlog, ensuring that it contains user stories or features that provide the most value to customers and the business. This involves continuously refining and reprioritizing the backlog based on feedback and changing priorities.
• Understand user needs and define user stories by breaking down high-level requirements into smaller, actionable user stories that can be implemented by the development team within a single iteration. These stories should be clear, concise, and include acceptance criteria.
• Make timely and informed decisions such as prioritizing features, resolving conflicts, and addressing impediments. The product owner needs to have a deep understanding of the market, customer needs, and business priorities to make effective decisions.
• Participates in planning meetings to review and prioritize user stories for upcoming sprints.

Position Requirements (Skills, Knowledge, Abilities):

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, business, engineering, or related field; Master's degree preferred.

• Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or equivalent Agile certification required.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a product management or product ownership role, preferably in an Agile environment.
• Proven track record of successfully delivering complex software products or digital solutions from concept to launch.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities with the ability to inspire and motivate cross-functional teams.
• Analytical mindset with a focus on data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement.
• Experience in EdTech and with Agile project management tools such as Jira preferred.

Travel:

Up to 10% travel may be necessary for customer-facing and planning meetings and the occasional visit to the corporate offices in Torrance, California.
