Minimum 1+ years occupational therapy experience required.

We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our team with a school district in Yreka, CA.As a COTA, you will play a vital role in assisting our students in achieving their maximum potential in their daily activities and enhancing their overall quality of life. This position offers full-time hours,providing ample opportunities to make a positive impact in the lives of students.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Occupational Therapists to develop and implement individualized treatment plans for students based on their needs and goals.
  • Conduct therapy sessions and interventions to improve students' motor skills, sensory processing, coordination, and functional abilities.
  • Provide assistance and support to students in daily activities such as grooming, dressing, eating, and classroom participation.
  • Monitor and document students' progress, maintaining accurate and detailed records.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other members of the education team to ensure consistent and effective therapy integration in the classroom.
  • Offer guidance and training to teachers and support staff on strategies to support students' occupational therapy goals.
  • Stay updated on current trends and best practices in occupational therapy through ongoing professional development opportunities.
  • Advocate for students' needs and collaborate with families to promote continuity of care.

Qualifications:

  • Valid certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA).
  • Experience working with children or adolescents, preferably in a school or pediatric setting.
  • Strong knowledge of occupational therapy techniques and interventions.
  • Ability to create and implement individualized treatment plans.
  • Excellent munication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with students, parents, teachers, and other team members effectively.
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Current CPR and first aid certification (preferred).
