Advocacy Supervisor

Based in Portland, Maine, and offering services statewide, Preble Street's low-barrier, client-centered programs provide casework, housing, shelter, food, and other essential services to people in our community experiencing homelessness, hunger, and poverty, while advocating for long-term solutions to these problems.

An Advocacy Supervisor position is available with the Advocacy Team to analyze local, state, and national policies and support strategic initiatives toward ensuring Mainers have the food and housing they need. The Advocacy Supervisor collects and analyzes data, identifies policy and administrative barriers to reducing poverty, coordinates with the Advocacy team and partners to develop and implement strategic advocacy campaigns and coalitions, and supports Homeless Voices for Justice (HVJ), a grassroots organization that works for social change with, and on behalf of, people with lived experience of homelessness and poverty.

The regular schedule for this full-time position is Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm schedule, with some work during evenings and weekends occasionally required.

The desired combination of education and relevant experience for this position includes a bachelor's degree in social work, public administration, social sciences, or related field of study, and experience working in community organizing and advocacy on poverty-related issues.

• Alignment with Preble Street's mission and positive regard for individuals accessing services for homelessness and poverty.
• Ability to connect with and outreach individuals in a variety of environments.
• Strong skills in solutions generation and critical thinking.
• Data analysis skills, with proficiency in collecting, documenting, reporting, and communicating data and information.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Regional travel to meet with clients, attend meetings and conference, and visit the statehouse is regularly required.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly rate of pay for this full-time (40 hours/week) position is $26.00 per hour.
