THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Digital Forensic Examiner 1, you will conduct advanced analysis of casework that includes examining various operating and file system environments and network communications found in diverse technology. You will work to recover deleted, encrypted, and damaged file information from sources such as computer towers, laptops, tablets, smartphones, routers, servers, printers, external hard drives, digital media players, GPSs, thumb drives, and more. You will be responsible for maintaining an evidence chain of custody and preparing general investigation reports which document evidentiary analysis and findings. Excellent communication and organizational skills are essential, as you will be called to provide expert testimony, when required, regarding digital evidence, the procedures used to obtain the evidence, and the findings of digital forensic examinations. You will also assist with court preparation of evidence and media used during prosecution.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $64,959 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• A bachelor's degree in digital forensics, cyber forensics, forensic science, computer science or any information technology field that includes 3 college credits in computer networking and 3 college credits in information technology security, network security, or cyber security; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes 3 college credits in computer networking and 3 college credits in information technology security, network security, or cybersecurity.

Necessary Special Requirement:

• You must possess an active motor vehicle license.

Post Employment Requirement:

• You must obtain and maintain an active Commonwealth Law Enforcement Assistance Network (CLEAN) certification issued by the Pennsylvania State Police within the probationary period and maintain the same for the duration of employment in this job.

Other Requirements:
